Splash Point Records launches Standard Issue, the astounding new album by BBC Jazz Awards 2005 double-winner Liane Carroll
Seaford, East Sussex, 6th Sept 2005
UK jazz singer/pianist Liane Carroll recorded Standard Issue at London's famous Abbey Road Studios in June this year. Standard Issue will be launched on the 18th September and released to shops on 3rd October.
The CD features Liane performing solo; trio with Roger Carey on bass guitar and Greg Leppard on drums; a track with special guests Bobby Wellins and John Parricelli; and a rousing duet with Ian Shaw. This recording showcases Liane's unique interpretation of jazz standards including That Old Black Magic and How Insensitive as well as modern classics such as At Seventeen and You've Got A Friend, and a band version of her own Three Sheets to the Wind.
With its perfect audio quality and exemplary performances this could well be the jazz recording of the year.
Following the success of her solo album Billy No Mates (SPR001CD) in 2003 and winning an outstanding two awards at this year's BBC 2005 Jazz Awards (Best Vocalist and Best of Jazz), this CD reveals Liane at the height of her powers.
The album was co-produced by David Hentschel (Yellowjackets, Genesis, Elton John), Liane Carroll and Neal Richardson.
Neal Richardson, the album's executive producer, chose Studio One at the inspiring Abbey Road Studios because of its great atmosphere and to get "the best piano sound money could buy". The result exceeds all expectations.
Jazz singer/pianist Liane Carroll's Abbey Road album Standard Issue (SPR003CD) is launched 18th September 2005 and for two weeks will be available exclusively on-line through the website www.SplashPointRecords.com. It will then be available nationwide from all record shops from 3rd October 2005 through Proper Distribution.
